March is pretty normal for the first material for me Karen, Only year it was late was 2018 when we had that extremely cold weather and snow. Heres a little year by year of my first material, I don't normally get "proper" building until late March though, Normally between 22nd - 27th is when they normally get stuck in!
2014 - 24th March
2015 - 27th March
2016 - 20th March
2017 - 10th March
2018 - 1st April (late this year due to beast from the east very cold feb / march)
2019 - 13th March
2020 - 4th March
2021 - 15th March
little video of "peacock" roosting tonight in the tree box shes been roosting for 2 months now

No new material today, pretty standard behaviour here get first material then nothing until later in March when I wake up to the box half full! Material did get brought into my box this morning that got the first material on 15th but since all materials been removed but visits over the last week are very widespread it was only morning but now its all day until dusk Heres a little picture of a visit before to my tree box

Got a funny / cute little clip of "peacock" material ended up around her neck She is currently bringing material in and out of two of my flat roof boxes, Nothing serious yet! She's brought material into both boxes this morning, Only a piece of moss into each I think she is still deciding what box to "go for" before she gets serious! Isn't it an eye opener though, I always thought when you get that first nest material it means the box is picked, Clearly not! Anyway i'll stop going on now haha video below and also a picture from this morning of her in the second back wall box! God love her, Her back still looks like a peacock

Nice vids, Paul! It is interesting, isn't it - we learn more about these birds every year, and every year they surprise us again with something new. I wonder how many nest sites they consider before deciding? I know that Tony has checked out my 5 boxes, including both the starling ones (which seem a little big to me - but maybe they will surprise us again!).

They literally check out everywhere Matt, Natural sites, boxes, you name it! Just lucky that she is going between 2 of my boxes and roosting in one. Shes brought a fair bit of material into the tree box today though, Last material to come in was around 4:30pm. So fingers crossed its the sign of more serious building! Here is she roosting

Well-done Peacock. What caused her feathers to be that way do you think Paul?

I think she's probably survived an attack Karen, Shes got no feathers at all around her full neck back and front, Which could be mites but I don't think mites would make her back feathers like that.
God love her, I am rooting for her to have a successful brood!

Meet our second female, Currently been coming and going from the wall box over the front garden this morning. Our males been bringing her in, Its another one of my flat roof boxes. Blue tits around here seem to love these boxes, I only have 3 of them up but at moment its them 3 boxes getting all the attention! Anyway heres the video shes been coming and going since 7am, This was probably her longest visit! Don't want to jinx it because anything can happen but it looks likely for atleast 2 blue tit nests again this year Also a video from yesterday of peacock I didn't put on the forum

Some clips from early this morning of building in my tree box by peacock I had over 30 videos didn't want to put them all together would of been far too long so just put some of the early morning ones! I'll post little picture below of her asleep in nest this evening and you'll get an idea of how much material came in today its basically double the amount that was in this morning. So more serious building is now taking place it seems
