I will try making one of the side view boxes 😀 Please can someone let me know the measurement of the base and I will build it from that......hopefully! Many thanks Amanda Right amanda here is some of the measurements, The base is 11cm x 11cm, the "ramp wall" is 26cm and other wall on the base is 15cm. In the side box the nest does go abit up the "ramp wall" so when the birds nest build the base becomes more like 16cm plus due to them using some of the ramp wall if that makes sense. look at all the pictures on gardenature website here - gardenature.co.uk/product/bird-box-camera-system-side-view-ultra-high-resolution will give you a better look at the box so you have rough idea, If you need anymore measurements let me know got the box handy anyway.

Thanks for that Paul - I've wondered about building something similar myself and this will come in very useful!

No problem Matt, Anymore measurements needed just let me know, I think aslong as you have them though should be fine as its only the back wall and roof you'll need to do along with the front of the box. If you have look at the gardenature website it gives you a better idea of how the box is shaped and looks anyway.

Cheers Matt, Paul, like i say i did'nt expect to see this at all. It could still happen for you both Matt, Karen. Funny why they don't roost in the box when they've chosen it.
EDIT, yes Matt this will be my first blue tit.

My female is well into building now Pete and still not roosting, I thought tonight might of been the night she come in really late and was nest wriggling but then she left again. Some blue tits will roost as soon as building starts others will wait until the nest is complete and ready to lay.

This is great Pete As Paul said some do roost straight away, however, my bluetits usually only roost once the nest is built and ready to start laying. Elle xx

Don’t give up hope yet Pete, Our female brought her first marital in then nothing for 8 days just the odd few visits, then loads more taken in nothing again for 3 or 4 days now she’s building daily, She’s still in no real rush though, She as days she brings material in 40times plus then days she only brings it in a handful of times. Would be extremely strange for her to bring all that material in for it to lead nowhere.
