Hi Natalie, its a starling box from GARDEN NATURE, i bought it because its a tall box and i could fit the electronics for my own lighting system in the top half of the box and drilled a new entrance hole further down the box. I put the block of wood inside to make the floor space a bit smaller as it being a starling box i thought it might be a bit to big for blue/great tits.
Hi Pete, lovely videos Looks like you will have a nest of great or Blue tits this year I had a second take moment the other day when we saw a long tailed tit around one of the boxes.......I know they don't use boxes but for a split second .....anyway a pair of them have been working their way around our house removing spiders' web. They flew off probably towards some woodland nearby....so I think they are already nest building.
Dust if you must but wouldn't it be better To watch the birds ...........
Keeping me fingers crossed Sammi, lovely little things the long tailed tits i see them in the garden sometimes during the spring collecting nesting material like you, and sometimes we get a whole flock of them during the summer passing through the garden they stay for a while and then move on.
That female looks very interested Pete! Could this be another side view box success? My side boxes are always the first boxes to be checked out I wonder if the odd shape of it makes it stand out more to the birds to view it? I am glad its looking promising anyway, Side box is my favourite of the gardenature boxes.
