Wow!! That must have been a shock...did you manage to get a photo? Hope it'll go else where.
You'll need to get the Wiley Coyote on the job....

Hope it stays away Taz but suppose it was only trying to feed its young too, unlike the Cats!

Not very good footage I'm afraid, but this was captured from the woodpecker trigger.

I haven't the problem with woodpeckers, as there are none in this area. They have started breeding in small numbers in the past few years.

Don’t see the footage Taz,
Hope he stays away, we had a sparrowhawk fly through the back of the bird feeder at lunchtime and I nearly had a heart attack and jumped up to chase it, the rest of my family thought I’d lost the plot, they were all admiring him, the only bird they’ve ever taken an interest in.

Haha, made me chuckle. I would've done the same. I must heave done the clip wrong. I'll try again. 🤞

Thats great Taz!!
P.s realised I made a mistake with my Wiley Coyote reference....that was the Road Runner!!! ha,ha!! Not Woody Woodpecker, but I'm sure Wiley would be up to the job anyway in a cartoon crossover episode!! lol!!!
Ok - got to go!!! Catch up with ye all later... Byeee!!!!

Hi all, just an update. Had a teeny tiny hair pulling period yesterday, the male and female left chicks unfed for 3 and a half hours, so naturally thought they had gone. Fear not, they came back and boy was it frenzied feed I'm guessing they may do this to prepare them for fledging?
The local robin has managed to find it's way into the mealworm feeder and is now taking lot's of mealies, going to cost a fortune
The chicks all look really healthy, lots of wing flapping. It's getting a tad crowded in their nest, it's difficult to remember that they are still so young, they're all so big.
That's all for now from the house of Taz

Good to hear they hadn't been abandoned Taz. Glad the Robin is benefiting from the mealworms. It is money well spent.🙂

Oh Taz that's my fear when the parents are out foraging anything can happen can't it, that is why I like them to stay in the garden and eat my food but it's not the natural way is it? Pleased your anxieties have settled down a bit!

Well, for the first time Mrs GT isn't in the box for the night. The chicks are very restless. All day they have been flapping their wings. A couple of times one chick had been up at the hole looking out, i'm beginning to think they may start fledging tomorrow, that will only be day 18 though.

Looks like we're feeding three nests in total including the GT's When I put mine out the robins were taking more than the Gt Tits so I covered it in and since then only the Gt Tits are using it. When they fledge I will see what I have left for them. Ill put up a video of it later. I'm due some larger mealworms in the next few days so there should be some left over.
