I think its because the link to the live stream changes everyday Pete, Once it ends and starts again it becomes a new stream link.

Great, got it, the link in the LIVE STREAMS thread does'nt take you to your live stream, just thought i'd mention it. Thanks Pete & Paul. I had overlooked this. When I set the stream up every day I will be sure to update the link in the streaming thread sticky at the top of the page with the date. I have also now put in my youtube address (below) where live feeds can be found together with my clips.

I am coming of age tomorrow as I reach 60. As all planned celebrations are on hold, I decided that we should sit outside this afternoon to enjoy the warm spring sun with a large glass of cold white wine. The silence on our 18 house development and the main rd 500 yards away is staggering and it seems to make the birdsong and calls so much sharper. No people, gardening or working noise and very little traffic. Our female Robin exits the nest when hubby arrives and expects feeding. We were sat about 7 metres distant and about 2.0 metres below the nest site as the rear garden slopes from the hill towards the rear of our house. At first we heard a lot of the single note alarm tweet of the female Robin noticing our presence but eventually she re entered the nest. This happened a few more times and with each she grew more confident on re entering her ivy enclosed watering can. Eventually a couple of hours later she did not seemed bothered at all! We also noticed two brave Blue tits (whom we assumed were ours) coming to the feeder which is now as close to the house than ever before. Then all out war erupted as ours came from the front and chased them away! The Dunnock's also seem to be engaged in a territorial skirmish with one or two others. The final bit of action saw 3 Swallows in the field behind, high in the sky. There are horse stables about 1/4 mile away and I reckon they nested there last year. Three into two does not go this time of year so perhaps one of the young from last years fledging was being told to go away! Tales from the Moors from an Oldie with nowt much else to do!

Benn its just a number, I will congratulate you tomorrow and wish you happy 60th.So many celebrations are on hold, which is such a shame, the whole country should have one massive street party once all this is over. its so lovely to have the peace and quiet around, no traffic and as you say the birds seem louder. I absolutely love swallows i could literally watch them all day, when we go down to the nature reserve for our walk i see them there, its about 2 miles from here.i would love to see them over my garden. enjoy your your sorry its not white

I'll look forward to another edition of 'Tales from the moors' Benn. I know what you mean about the quietness of it all, i dont live far from city airport SE london, no planes, hardly any traffic, just a few screaming kids now and again from other gardens.

Loving the 'Tales from the Moors' Ben. Don't worry 60 is the new 30 I've heard. I'm 70 and even the government thinks I need to be careful.🤣 it's only my knees that feel their age🙂 Happy birthday and enjoy the birds singing to you.

Again thanks for the birthday wishes. The day turned into probably the best birthday I've ever had, in spite or even because of the current situation. I awoke to find that my older sister in Toronto had sent overnight 30 odd pictures from the 1960's 70's and 80's many of which I had not seen for 40 odd years. I then had literally hundreds of birthday wishes and comments on social media and had to give up replying by midday when after our morning walk relatives and friends started Facetiming or contacting by Zoom. Unfortunately the "Live Feed" to the boxes had to be sacrificed to allow the appropriate Bandwidth for this. Our neighbours delivered a bottle of my favourite wine to the front door with card and balloons, rang the bell and then ran down the front steps to the street and then sang happy birthday with banners and poppers! Me and Mrs Benn then had much wine and a lovely late afternoon BBQ with music in the hot spring sunshine. At 7pm I was surprised by my wife who had managed to get 24 friends and relatives from all over the country, Canada and Indonesia together for a Zoom party that was hilarious! Back on topic ......Further tales from the Moors. Here are a few pics from our walk yesterday and a video clip of Chaffinch song. The area has 3 types of Flora. Open Moorland, Mature spruce/fir woodland where the majority of my old boxes are mounted and 20 year old plantation woods that are more open with a mixture of fir and mostly deciduous trees (video clip). This latter area is full of singing Chaffinches. It is no exaggeration that there is a singing Male every 100 yards and this results in a cacophony of sound. There are also dozens of butterflies confirming that this might be a bumper year for these after a good summer last year and a mild winter. The older fir woodland contains wood pigeons, many singing Robins, Great tits, some blue tits and a fewof the more shy Coal tits. So far two boxes have moss from Great Tits and we found another with a Blue tit exiting which had the first sprigs of moss. The Moorland has less birdlife but I am pleased to say that there are now 4 or 5 singing Skylarks after a few lean years and quite a few flocks of Meadow Pipits. But my favourite here is the soulful eerie call of mating Curlews that seems to travel over a mile! Enough ramblings and I can now reinstate my live feed, where there is not much to report in terms of progress whilst waiting for the first Blue Tit egg and the Robin continuing to sit on 5 eggs. The male Robin is around a lot more feeding his Mrs with insects and sunflower hearts and giving the Dunnocks a hard time after they had the temerity to enter the Ivy near the nestsite!
