Hi all, I have 4 boxes with camera’s, currently I have a great tit rooster in my tree bird box and a blue tit rooster in my garage bird box. They have been with me since early November 2019 Here are my boxes set up all ready to go, apart from putting an LED light up in my newest box. The LED’S have almost doubled in price! Anyone know where to get them reasonably priced? This year I also have my cameras linked up to the Amazon Alexa Show 8’s (which I’m quite addicted to!!) - I’m willing to help anyone who wants to connect their camera’s to an Amazon Alexa Show / Firesticks if they have an IP Camera (The picture looks rubbish for some reason) Good luck to you all with the new season , I can’t wait to see what is happening in everyone’s bird boxes

Good luck with the season ahead Amanda Led lights gone up £5, from £9.99 to £14.99 (without power input) I don't need the power input because it works off my camera power supply. and up for £14.99 to £19.99 if you want the power plug. I think Green feathers seen how popular they was and got abit greedy, Still worth the price though for what you get I suppose, I just let that they run on a sensor that goes off at dusk. Good thing is led long lasting so shouldn't need replacing for good few years, you could try making your own led lights with a sensor, i'm sure google will give you ideas. If you come up with anything that works out cheaper than the green feathers ones do let us know!

Thanks for the info Paul. I didn’t realise it had the psu with it. My ones run on my camera power. Most places are out of stock, I managed to bag one on eBay last night. spycameracctv are supposed to have them coming in 14th February I have been up the ladders this morning and turned my other LED’s on. They look so much better! I must agree, they are worth the price. I’m not sure I could make anything like that, Matt has the best ideas with his raspberry pi LED lights.

How longs that GT been roosting in your tree box Amanda? If its over a few weeks and its that clean I think it could be a female, I'd expect alot more mess off a male you see.

I think it is a female, she cleans it during the day. She has been in there since mid November. Is that good to have a female rooster? I had a messy blue tit in the garage box since October, then there was a big fight in the box, all the droppings were removed and it stayed clean for a few weeks, droppings being removed daily, but it’s messy again. There is a video on my 2019 thread, on the last page (22 November)

Yes she is female then Amanda, Everytime I've had a female rooster she's gone on to use the box to nest in during spring, Its always the female that picks the box remember, If she's spent all winter sleeping a box she knows it is safe place to raise her brood. So having a female rooster bonds well with getting a nest out of her! always been the case here in my garden anyway.

That would be lovely if she did The blue tits are going in during the day and checking the box out. I have also had a great tit poke it’s head in the house bird box a couple of days ago, nothing is roosting in there. Here is the great tit this morning

Looking really good for your great tit amanda! Pretty jealous of people who get GT, Its one bird you see very few of in my garden, we always have 1 pair on the feeders and bring the chicks over summer that is about it.

I had a big fight in my garden yesterday. It started with the a blue tit in the tree bird box. The blue tit came out of the box and straight after the great tit went in and stayed there. Meanwhile outside a blue tit and great tit started scrapping in the air, they both fell to the ground and continued in the muddy flower boarder. This must have gone on for about 30 second or so. The great tit roosted in the box last night and again this evening, but the blue tit went in and took the great tits droppings out this morning.
Here is the blue tit coming out and the great tit going in

Trouble ahead for that box Amanda! I think it be fights until 1 wins, If the blue tit is taken the poo out must be female aswell. I think it will really heat up in this box over the next few weeks before heading into March!

It’s the house bird box today! The great tit had a nosey and the blue tit was straight in the box! Nothing is roosting in the house bird box.
