Hi I just thought I'd start a new thread for the upcoming season. Everything crossed for everyone. Our boxes have been sorted for the year apart from a couple of camera connections and in total we have 5. 2 old Boxwatch boxes (Clematis and corner boxes) with Garden Nature cameras and led lighting , 2 Garden Nature boxes one with light and one without(patio and fence boxes), and a newly acquired Green Feathers deep box with one of their little cameras and lighting(Front box) The main interest at the moment seems to be in the patio box which has had a rooster for a long time and the clematis box where we had a nest last year. We had a rooster in the new front box for a couple of nights after the bust up in the roosters box. Here is a pic from today from the rooster? defending the patio box from an unwanted visitor. I don't get much time on line these days but I keep up with you all. GOOD LUCK FOR 2020

Wow Sammi - all those boxes! You have provided loads of potential homes for your birds, so all you'll have great success this year.

I just had to share this pic of my rooster the other evening. The weather was so bad I think she decided to get an early night. Normally the camera has been on black and white just before the rooster goes to bed. I think the rooster has changed recently as we have a few deposits that haven't been cleaned up. This has happened on a couple of occasions though and then it seems the female takes over the roost again or she starts taking a pride in the placed again. Who knows

Thanks all for the comments. Goodness the action in the Patio box is heating up with a daytime battle yesterday. There are a lot of droppings (and feathers!) now in the bottom so I am assuming a male has taken over the roost after the battle. They really should sort this out quickly. Honestly there are other boxes available folks.

Turf wars going on at yours Sammi!! They are quite brutal with each other aren’t they! Has your rooster come home yet?

Yes Amanda thanks. Came to roost and all tucked up. They certainly go for it. I'm only glad it's just a few feathers on the box floor and no blood. ☹

Hi Natalie, Yes it's not a nice watch but at least I dont record the sound. It really is horrible. I used to have the camera linked just to my tv in the bedroom and heard the fight from downstairs many years ago. The box where the fight occured is spotless now. You wouldn't know anything had happened. I imagine fights must happen in most boxes but we just don't see them.

Hi I am just posting this to show the Boxwatch boxes with new GN cameras and LEDs. Top right has light attached to side just under the light plate and bottom left has light attached to the base plate so is pointing down. The only box without LED lights is the bottom right. Hope this helps Tom.

Hi Tommy Here is my garage bird box, I fiddled around with the focus after the birds ha been pecking. The bottom right has the LED light. They appear to be out of stock everywhere, I thought I had got one last week, but got an email hoping they would be in stock around the 14th February. Let me know if you find any please SpycameraCCTV LED lights

Hi Folks... could anyone point me into the right direction for choosing a DVR (only just really understood what they do🤣🙄) I'm thinking now all my boxes are sorted camera wise I know my old PC will do it's usual trick as the season progresses and break down on me. I'm thinking a DVR would be a cheaper alternative to a new PC. I dont know where to start though. I started a thread in the technical page so if anyone has any hints/tips they can share I would be very grateful. I'm heading for a big birthday soon so ideal time I thought🤞🤣🤣

Hi Sammi, It’s quite complicated and depends on what cameras you have. I use an NVR which is a network video recorder and I use IP cameras using POE (power over the ethernet) so I use a network cable only to power my cameras, no power plug direct to the camera. If you can let me know what cameras you have a how they connect... a photo of the camera connection would be good to see, I can help you out

Hi Amanda, thanks for the info. My cameras are all wired with normal AV leads. Most are Garden nature cameras. I think it's a DVR I need just to plug the AV connectors into. At the moment they feed into a Picolo junior 4 capture card which is fitted into my pc. I just have no idea which make to go for or which to avoid. Your set up sounds far more sophisticated than mine. 🙂

Ahhhh okay, I think I’m going to have to pass on that then. I’m sure that the majority of connections are BNC or POE Hikvision, Hilook or Annke are good makes, all made by the same company, just rebadged. I’m not sure what set up Benn has, perhaps he maybe able to advise you in between sunning himself in Goa! I hope you manage to get sorted out x

Well just for the record I have no idea which bird is roosting at the moment as the pile of deposits is building up? Its been generally spotless since the start of the roosting period with the odd couple of days here and there when a few bits have been left? There was also a wasp sharing the box when the rooster went in last night and he/she wasn't happy and looked to be giving it a piece of his/her mind. Not sure if it had the desired effect as it seems to be above the field of vision of the camera.🤞😮
