So thought it be cool to share our plans for next season, any upgrades changes etc in any way. I invested in two new nest boxes of different designs to add more choice and hole size to the birds. But I have a small dilemma in that I have got two nest boxes that have been up since last Autumn and did get interest shown but they dont have cameras inside, I cant add anymore sadly so do I take them down to increase the chance of the others being used there is the possibility of moving the cameras to the boxes if it looks as though a nest is coming but it would be a real faff! Any way it would be nice to see what you guys are planning next year icon_biggrin

Hi Karen, well I have the same sort of problem. I have now achieved two camera boxes , but my ‘lucky box’ which is made of concrete I am unable put a camera in so I have decided to take that one down for next year because knowing my luck they will choose the one without a camera . Maybe this will prove a bad move but IF they choose my garden to make a nest in at least I will be able to see some of what is happening - well that’s the theory . Sue

Good luck with the new boxes Karen This year I am actually doing no changes I did have a theme box planned and painted it and started adding bits but at moment all my boxes are getting daily visits by blue tits which is pretty weird. So just leaving the boxes as they are this year now, I think with nest material already being brought into one of my side view boxes / female sleeping nightly that looks very likely to be used. Alot of attention in the purple tree box again at moment few visits a day, So for once no changes here! I think next year though I'll make changes as soon as the chicks leave, I didn't expect August to be a month of house hunting and seeing material coming in nest wriggles etc. So next year I think i'll add the theme box at end of June and do any box changes then. I'm looking forward to seeing everyones changes though, Matt looks likely to have few changes I am excited to see. Sue, If nobody nests in your garden next year in camera boxes I am driving down and having words with your local blue tits ok?? Only August and we are already thinking of 2020 what are we like? wishing the years away!

Hi everyone Well, I'm ready for 2020.i have moved my sideview camera box into a position that i know the blue tits have used a box there previously. i did say i would take boxes down and just leave camera box up, but i have gone back on my word. i have the log box, which was used for marthas family, and a log box now in the position the wrens used one this year. i decided to do this as i have more greatits and bluetits coming to the feeders, so hopefully they will be around next year-and not fighting over one box. Lets see if it works.

Looking forward to seeing everyone's new setups - or old setups, as the case may be! I'm busy working on the three more sideview boxes, two for me and one for my sister and her family. I have already given one away as well, so making four in total. Working on the camera and light setup now, hope to be able to post the finished pics in a few days and I will then put it up and let the locals get used to it. I did turn the cameras back on in two of my existing boxes, but not so much as a visit in the 6 weeks the cameras have been back on. You do seem to get a lot of interest from the birds in general, Paul, at least of the feathered sort! If all goes to plan I'll have five boxes in total, plus maybe a starling box as well if I get round to it. I don't that one will have a camera to start with though - I'll give it a season to see if it gets any interest first (of course that will be the only box that gets picked!!).

Hi Karen, I thought I'd add my new improvements. Today the favoured boxwatch box is back up in position but with a lovely new camera from garden nature. It was meant to go in last season but the nesters beat me to it😂 it is wired up to the PC through the hole in the window frame with the other camera cables and so happy days. Of course the old PC is still playing up so that may just have to go! We have another boxwatch box due to be 'converted' but no camera for it as yet. Spring can't come soon enough!!
