WOW Paul, that’s amazing! I feel some more hog boxes coming on...... 🤣 Thank you to you and Karen for your advice, I had some straw and hay so done a mixture of both. I have one hog house up and running (the bought one) which now has a camera in it.....waiting for the hedgehogs now, I don’t usually see them till gone 11pm I have started building 2 houses, one is nearly complete, I just need to put the hinges on the lid, and the second needs a floor and a roof. Here is a pic of inside of the new one

I know Amanda, Can't believe I am up to number 7 now was only one around 6 or 7 weeks ago! Loving your little hog house set up! fingers crossed for you Here's a little picture of the new little hoglet, Its probably our smallest hog now, It is smaller than the other hoglet. He/She as got abit of hay on their back they had a nose in one of the hog houses and had a nap before this picture was taken! Noticed his / her fur on the belly area is white going into light brown this is only hog to have white fur so stands out! Anyway here is a picture of hog number 7 and our smallest hog, Don't know what to name it..

Its so cute, I think i'll have to take it a rescue centre come the end of October though. Get it back after spring if it can't hibernate this year, Don't want it ending up dead! Great news though it slept overnight in one of the hog houses, Its currently asleep in there now. I'll be bringing both hoglet's in last week October weighting them and then calling up our local hedgehog place and see what is best for them. Good thing about this place is they take all your details and do let you go and pick the hogs back up so coming back to your garden so its win win. Don't know about you Karen but I love watching them, Such amazing little animals. Going to miss them when hibernation starts although my bank balance will recover!

I was the same last night, I had my iPad on my bed but I didn’t see any, nor was the food eaten. Fingers crossed they will come out to play tonight. Your hoglett is beautiful Paul, as is Lola Karen. As far as I know, I have adult ones, they are quite big. I must stop reading this forum, it is costing me far too much money!! I need to get a new NVR now as mine is only 8 channels, I now have 10 cameras and will add some more in the new houses x

Even better Karen, Mine won't be arriving until middle next week, I ordered it off Ebay you see. Got it for £27 free shipping someone selling it on unused unopened.
You'll have to show me some footage / pictures from yours when you've got it all set up!

You'll have to show me some footage / pictures from yours when you've got it all set up! Had a good old play with it and played around with different positions and I think I have got it in the best place, I have done a few test videos and all looks good so the real test will be tonight. But I am really impressed with the functions and the build quality for the price. Will show you the results tomorrow.

Thats great Amanda . Did he have a nap? No, I don’t think so, I have not watched all the footage, it was in and out and then I couldn’t see if it was in or out as the hay was covering the camera. It isn’t in there now as I have just had a peek. I have just moved one of my hikvision cameras down to the ground this morning so I will use that for the entrance. It was a spare camera so I put it in a bird box, made the hole bigger so the lens stuck out. I got the idea from Wayne Rooney’s house, he has cameras coming out of bird boxes on every other tree I’ll take a picture of the outside of my hog house later when it is set up, I’m dodging the rain!

Built myself a feeding station yesterday with a camera inside No luck last night, so I'll just leave it out and hope for the best. Am a little concerned that the two entrances are too close together, so might not deter cats effectively - we will see. The local cat didn't find it/get in last night, at least. Lid is just another bit of wood with a brick on the top, and food is the Spike semi moist that Paul recommended. I must admit that I haven't seen any evidence of HHs in the garden, so I'm not sure what to expect. Much inspired by all of your action on this thread though!

Nice work Matt, Hopefully keeps the cats out! I must admit though it was cat meat that first attracted my first hog, You should try dog / cat wet food something with a strong smell, I have noticed the beef ones have a strong smell. Hedgehogs rely on their smell to find food they have an unbelievable sense of smell. I think a little bowl semi moist and some wet dog / cat food should do the trick at getting them into the garden, When you get your first one more will follow i'm telling you that!

Probably a good idea Paul, although the dog and visiting cat would probably make short work of it.. I have sprinkled some of the semi-moist pellets around the box and in the entrance to hopefully entice anything that comes close. Here is the pic from within the box tonight: Am I right in thinking it is either feeding station or sleeping box? I haven't put any straw or anything inside, just paper on the floor.

Your box looks fab Matt It looks a pretty damn good hedgehog house to me! I’m sure you will get a tenant very soon. i have temporarily got a camera outside my hog house with bowls outside (at the minute) my next project will be a feeding station. I want to get the 2 hedgehog houses finished first. One has had its first coat of paint this evening and the other still needs painting. Here are a few photos of my set up The bought hedgehog house in situ This is the camera watching from outside This is the night time view I hope you all have some visits tonight, I can’t wait but I doubt I will be awake when they visit

Looks great Amanda! So that is a house/hibernation box rather than a feeding station? Did you get plans online? If so, do you have a link you can share? I might look into one of those as well, although rapidly running out of scrap wood here! Have you had visits for your food yet, do you know?

The measurements are in this section of the forum headed Hedgehog House Measurements, probably under this thread. Hedgehog House Measurements
I am using it as a house. I bought the one in the photograph and have taken the measurements from it. After making a couple and putting the roof on, I would advise to make the roof from a whole piece of wood and not the eco slate tile. I found that when the roof went on the tile made it too high for the roof. I have adapted it and it will be fine, but wouldn’t bother doing that again. So tomorrow, I am going to get some more wood for the roof for the second one. when they are finished, I will put some photos on Give me a shout if you need any help, they are dead easy to make, so you will be able to do it with your eyes shut!

Thanks Amanda - I missed that before! Very similar size to mine, actually, but the layout is different. I might add a little "porch" on to mine to make the entrance a bit more tunnel-like. Shouldn't be too hard, and hopefully keep the cat out - although that particular cat hasn't clocked the box yet and I don't even know if it would make it through the two entrances I already have. Would probably make it a bit more cosy though.. So you are not putting food in the box, just straw for sleeping?

My food is outside at the minute, which isn’t ideal. I could use one of the houses for feeding I guess.
