I haven't put a camera over this nest however I noticed they was chicks in it today, So managed to get a quick picture while mum was away. I'll try and get pictures now and again without disturbing the nest much.

How lovely, one of my favorite birds, we have a pair every year.
Where are they nesting Paul? I’m always searching but can never find where they go.

They normally nest at very top of one of my conifer trees Helen, However the woodpigeon as taken that spot this year (currently on eggs) won't try and get pictures of that because It will be R.I.P Paul the height it is! But this year they're nesting in a large bush that is by my pond against the ivy, Stands about 10 foot tall I'd say, Its an evergreen, I don't know the name of it sadly. I'll get some pictures of it tomorrow for you and post them, You might know what it is. I just hope the magpies don't find them! I think they might of raided my goldfinch nest aswell not seen her on the nest all day she was 100% sitting on eggs aswell!

Oh no Paul, not the goldfinches as well?? Magpies are such pests, we have quite a few near me, no decline for them!!! No wonder eh, cos they’re too busy raiding every other birds nests What you you need Paul is one of those kids bow & arrow things with the suckers on the end! The ones what yer used to lick the end of the sucker and it used to stick to whatever yer fired at!!! Brother used to have one, & fire it at mums windows, she used to go crazy Elle xx

Nice pics Paul. Two collared doves have recently appeared on our street. Lovely things. They have been visiting our feeders to pick up spilt seed from the lawn. We also have about 6 pairs of wood pigeons on our street. They are very successful but I understand they breed all year round.

Sad news for this nest aswell everyone Noticed before mum and dad flying in and out the bush looking very worried, So I went and had a look and feathers was everywhere. When climbing up to the nest two bodies was left their, Well I say bodies they was plucked and pretty much bone fully ate. I am guessing the sparrowhawk found them this morning and they both made an easy meal, They had all the adult feathers and everything. I know the hawks need to eat aswell and this is nature but it hasn't half p*ssed me off, Only my woodpigeon nest going strong now, That is deep inside one of the big conifer trees. Blackbird and goldfinch nest both raided by magpie now this by hawk, Isn't it a good job our blue tits sparrows great tits nest in boxes? I'd hate to see how many of us had tragic outcomes if they didn't.

Paul it’s so sad to hear about your collard doves nest like you mentioned others have to feed but it’s still heart breaking at times.

Yes horrible Kevin, They wouldn't of been long off fledging that is the horrible part of it. Probably only had 5 to 7 days left.

Oh Paul, yet another little family lost - you've certainly had more bad luck with your nests this year than previous ones - but so heart breaking for you & the parent birds.

I don't normally have this many nests around the garden to be honest Diane, And when I do its normally deep in the conifer trees so its harder for them to be found. Atleast if the wren female does pick the box the male as been building the nest in that little family will be safe where it is!

Sorry to hear this Paul! Don't rule out Magpies. Last year I witnessed a Magpie fly down and strip a stunned Goldfinch that had flown into next doors window. I ran downstairs and outside but it had ripped it apart in seconds.

Really Benn? I just guessed a sparrow hawk when I seen how they had been plucked and ate in the nest. Must admit it was a horrible scene, Flesh all over the nest. I ended up taken the full nest out the bush wasn't nice to see.

Well, I 100% thought sparrowhawk because we have the female and male in the garden daily. But after comment from Benn it could be a magpie i guess, They did take my blackbird eggs and goldfinches.
