I’m laughing to myself Helen, about someone making a fortune from the supply of mealworms! Are you sure your hubby didn’t read my post about you setting up a mealworm farm?, and he’s decided to take up the suggestion of ‘making a fortune!’ and going under a different name Elle xx

Thanks Sue, would have been great..... Oh Elle you are wicked....or are you He just got a new car They are costing me a small fortune, but they’re worth it. Day 16 they have got very big, and still have 5 ......one slightly bigger. Mum didn’t sleep in nest box last night after having slept on them the night before as temperatures went down to 7degrees.

They look wonderful Helen, apart from the 1 bigger one, they all look very evenly matched, so could possibly all go on the same day!, is Saturday the day your anticipating their departure Helen? That would be day 19 or do your chicks usually go later? Elle xx

Usually 19 days Elle, but have had ones that stayed 22 days. These guys are practicing flying already so Saturday should be the day and weather forecast is dry and warmish so hopefully

What a beautiful picture, really gorgeous, nothing cuter than a baby blue tit. It is expensive I know but as you say worth it to know you have made a difference. When are they due to go?

They look really snug in there Helen - at least the weekend is supposed to be warmer, so they would be well advised to stay inside tomorrow and make the big push on Saturday - Good Luck.

All five finally fledged this morning between 7.15 and 8.20, a day later than I expected, might have had something to do with us all been out in the garden yesterday with the lovely weather....who knows!!! One of the parents (I’m presuming Mark) , kept returning with worms to the box for about two hours after the last one left Relieved at this stage that 5 managed to make it but sad at the same time, my five little pets have gone

Wonderful news Helen, that all five of them safely fledged, so now you can breathe easy with relief. Therefore that should help a bit coping with your empty nest syndrome for this year - I hope so anyway.
