So to try and quell my disappointment of so far no nest this year, I am busying myself by replacing two boxes with new designs, I will be adding a bit of decoration to the interior inspired by Wildlife Kate. Here is an image so far of one, still to do side walls in paper, camera a bit off focus so will have to adjust, but quite pleased so far.

Yes I have some off Ebay, I have ordered a fair bit, But going to keep it simple and not over do it and to much is going on kinda thing. So when I start doing the box out I am going pick thing I want then work with them. Not using one of my current boxes I am doing one with longer floor space etc, Probably with just the side angle view basically like Kate's on the live cams.

Are you building one yourself Paul to get the desired floor space? The angle that Kate gets seems quite low down almost at a level with the 'room'. It must have been adapted to house the camera. What are your thoughts on it.

Probably going to make something over the summer Karen, I haven't got plans of what yet but I'll be doing it over summer to put it up in Autumn.

Cheers Paul, no not all of them, I have 3 cameras so will theme the 3 boxes with the cameras, 2 of which are new boxes to replace two old ones. In total I have 5 boxes though. Would love cams in them all but its like spaghetti junction already in the bedroom with the cables so will leave it at 3. Incidently I saw my first Swift today, any in your area yet Paul?

There both different designs with different hole sizes, the white one I choose because of its roof design I knew I could get a decent camera angle with it, I can see the entrance hole now, I used the camera you gave me in it ! The other one is very robust and spacious. Like you say best to offer them plenty of choice. I hope now the GTs will have a chance next year.

Oh I like both them boxes, Glad the camera I give you as come in handy for you, Its got a nice wide 120 angle I think rather than standard 92. Looking good so far Karen, I think I am going to have 2 new boxes next year myself one themed and one not. I do all that during Summer, Gives me something to do after the birds fledged and gear up for the return of the roosters. Anything happening in your current boxes after the material etc?

I saw a BT looking in a few days ago, didnt enter, was with another, I presume Boulder, but no more material, Boulder still roosts on a night. Time is running out now, so he needs to get his skates on!!

Your themes look nice & cosy Karen, very welcoming 'rooms'. Your new bird boxes look nice too & it would be a bonus if you get a nest in them next year. Funnily enough, the box on the left is exactly like the other box I have, but mine has a slate roof. This is the one I bought at a Garden Centre years ago, no interest shown in it at all until this year when a GT flew into it - won't know if it nests or not until August when my daughter takes it down.

Thanks yorkshirelass, the one on the left is to replace the tree box. it has a hole large enough for GTs, I had a pair of GTs looking at the tree box this year but due to their size they couldnt fit inside. Hope your pair use your box, will look forward to hearing how it went,
