Well I still have a glimmer of hope as yesterday and this morning the female Speck is still looking round my boxes, so perhaps they haven't settled for next doors just yet , who knows what they are thinking.

Oh the suspense, wish they would not do this to us . Can’t wait to see your photos from work, but you need one in your own garden Sue

Yes I know suep, I so hope I do, I got the cameras all set up this year and the picture is so clear and gives a great view, the thought of not seeing it all breaks my heart if I am honest , but what can I do, the birds decide what is best for them

Hi Karenupnorth,
I think I am in the same position as you, I think the bluetits have decided on nextdoors box too. I had loads of activity yesterday, even a beak full of grass arrived in the box, I have even had wriggles in both boxes today, but I am certain it is the pair that are spending a lot of time in nextdoor box. I did have a pair of great tits knocking around yesterday, I’ve been at work today so I haven’t seen them today.
Fingers crossed you get some residents soon

Nervous times for all of us Amanda, as these birds finally make their choices, and we can do nothing more than look on with our fingers crossed!

Morning all, thanks everybody, it is a nervous wait for sure, each day I am thinking today will be the day I see her take moss next door but until I do I will just keep my fingers crossed and hope he gets another girl. Good luck to you all too. Quick edit; just been sat for an hour and again Speck is still looking at my other boxes, she has gone round them all while Boulder watches on and makes noise, as though he is saying "come on hurry up and decide" this is third day running she has done this, I wish she would put us out of our misery!!

I had this year 2017-
A beautiful female BT on my fence with a beak full of moss. I said to myself, here we are, all systems go. What happened next floored me. She flew to my neighbors roof and entered a little cavity. Absolutely gutting and heart wrenching, you feel betrayed, especially feeding them all Winter with the feeding stations out!. Hopes built up to the max and dash in a split second. But what got my dander well up, she was using MY garden moss! The cheek of it! Needless to say my nestbox then was a bit rubbish (too shallow) and I purchased the upgrade, so now it's two nests in two years.
Keep the faith, she will make the right choice for her at the end of the day! Even the male can't do much.

Thank you bluetitkeeper, I was getting complacent as she had done nest wriggles in two of my boxes and going in them since January, so was kind of thinking she would use one. Any way this last few days she is still having a quick look at them so who knows, she may change her mind! Might have to ask you about your upgrade if it goes pear shaped

It can't support a camera really, due to only the side opening etc... and no gaps for cables... The BT's do love it however.

GOOD MORNING ALL, really lovely this morning, I havnt posted in a while as nothing new has happened, Boulder and Speck still visit next doors box most of the time and pop in to check mine, she has been in this morning in the tree box, I thought I would switch the camera on and have a quick look, there are a few feathers in it with some droppings so I wonder if there has been a rooster , I will take a look tonight to see if there is anyone in there. I keep getting facebook memories about Chico building her nest last year, she started on the 29/3. Oh how I miss this.

Thanks Matt, every day they confuse me more, now with this rooster evidence its even more strange( can only be a BT as the hole wont allow a bird bigger), there is lots of visits to the garden and lots of calling for one another but no nest material coming in next door yet that I have seen.

Oh Karen, Don’t be doing things like that! Seen you updated your thread and thought omg she must have nest building happening then clicked and see and the disappointment for you crept back in

On the rooster side of things, if poo is being left it’s likely to be male. So I wonder if the female is indeed started building in next door (that you haven’t seen) and she’s roosting so he’s decided to roost close by? I only say this because last year my male was roosting in a box around 30 foot away from my female nesting box, He’s doing same again this year.

I wondered if this could be the case, I heard a BT calling at 6.30 this morning and I dont usually have them come till around 7 to 7.30, so once I saw the feathers in the box I thought was that the one who was up early calling? I will take a look tonight I am not in till 10.30pm as I am at work, be kind of nice to have Boulder roosting, rather have a nest though wish he would find a second lady.

Just got in and the rooster is tucked up in bed. I am guessing it is Boulder so he is close to Speck. So cute.
